CodeCase migrates a legacy system from Delphi to JAVA J2EE

The Challenge

BRED Banque Populaire, a cooperative bank is the largest commercial bank within the BPCE group.
lts core business is commercial banking in France and in French overseas collectivities, and at international level where it pursues a strategy of targeted growth in the Horn of Africa, the Pacific region and Asia.

BRED had a client/server application developed in Delphi and engaged us to migrate the application to JAVA J2EE as well as evolving it to a N-tier architecture with Web GUI, Servlet Runner and interfaced with COBOL.
The main challenge was to perform an iso-functional migration while preserving the user experience and the interop with Cobol programs.

Our Solution

We led this project in 4 steps following our Business Logic-Driven approach:

1. Performing a Gap Analysis: mapping of the entire code base to identify the key technical challenges and extraction of the whole business logic in UML Format.

2. Model Refactoring.

3. Code Generation .

4. Testing and documentation: CodeCase led the different testing phases together with the client and contractually guaranteed non-regression and iso-functionality. An interactive documentation was automatically delivered.

Success Factor

The agility of the CodeCase tools and team allowed us to handle the Delphi language and especially its user interface framework quickly and to generate unit tests within the initial schedule.
